How to Escape A “Suckers Trap”?

It happens quite often during a meeting when managers, board members, executives and other people keep discussing the minor issues while ignoring the elephant in the room.

 

Everyone keeps talking and arguing about things that might not even need attention at that particular meeting. Even though the smartrest people running the company are present in the room, they become a victime of the Sucker’s Trap.

 

Sucker’s Trap can be considered when you focus on what you know and what others dont know rather than the reverse. 

How to escape the Sucker’s Trap?

You wont even know, you are stuck in a sucker’s trap until i’s too late. But there are a few things you can do to escape from it

 

  1. Hear and respect other people’s opinion and knowledge.

  2. Accept the fact that other person might know something that you don’t.

  3. Address the elephant in the room.

  4. Instead of being a commanding and ordering person try to be the one who wants to share knowledge.

  5. Try to visualize the issue from 3rd person’s perspective.

 

These are just five tips out of many more that you can use to escape the suckers trap. Just do not be an egomaniac and then regret later.
